PURPOSE
To meet with the Executive Board of the American
Medical Association.
II.
BACKGROUND, PARTICIPANTS, PRESS PLAN
A.
Background: When you met last year with the AMA
Executive Board you saw Doctors Parrott, Palmer,
and Sammons, and Mr. Miller.
This year the Executive Board would like to talk
to you about your budget proposals in health,
AMA actions to control health costs, and a costs
study they are conducting. The AMA National
Health Insurance bill (H.R. 6222) which would
offer income tax credits for individuals
purchasing a qualified private health insurance
plan is in Committee.

I am pleased to welcome you here today.

your fourth leadership conference. I trust
those meetings were successful.

to discuss, such as: health controlling,
health costs and medical manpower.

I would also like to ask your reaction to the
Proposals on health grant consolidation and
catastrophic health coverage for Medicare
beneficiaries that I recommended in the State
of the Union message last week.
