NORTHAMPTON Main Street in 1838 from Warner's Coffee House The picture opens to the direction of Bridge Street. In the distance is seen the old Pomeroy Homestead. To the left of the Coffee House rises the white spire of the First Church almost hiding the old Court House. Opposite, occupying the present site of the Columbian Building, is the Edwards Church built in 1833. Adjoining stands the residence of Dr. Hunt and from this building in 1870 a fire spread destroying the church after which it was rebuilt on the present site farther up the street.
