THE INSTITUTE FOR ADVANCED STUDY
PRINCETON, NEW JERSEY
OFFICE OF THE DIRECTOR
10 September 1953
MEMORANDUM
We had a brief discussion on September 9th of future plans
of the seminar that Mr. Acheson has been conducting. We enclose a
list of dates which have been chosen for the coming meetings, which
will be held at the Institute for Advanced Study and will run, with
appropriate interruptions, from mid-afternoon of the first day to the
mid-afternoon of the second. With the exception of the November meeting,
the days are Saturday and Sunday; the November meeting will be on
Thursday and Friday.
It is planned in these meetings to discuss further the major
substantive questions of foreign policy during the period 1949-52.
The first meeting will probably be devoted to the defense of Europe,
the military assistance program, and the role of Germany in the defense
of Europe. It is planned tc make available before each meeting a brief
summary of the public history of ONE issues to be discussed.
