W. MITCHELL, CLERK Honorable Edgar G. Hinde Postmaster Independence, Missouri Dear Edgar: I sent you the customary post office letter yesterday, just as a matter of courtesy and because the girls insisted on getting it out. I haven't yet made up my mind whether I will let this appointment come out of the Committee or not. I still have several ways of stopping it. Ireally think you ought to have the endorsement of the Chairman of the County Committee before I decide whether or not to ask Mr. Clark to hold it up. If I also had a letter of endorsement from Dave Thompson and William Southern, I believe it would complete the file. One from Pods and Dexter Perry would also be acceptable. Hope Joe Clements has fully recovered from his break and that we will get a chance to spend some time at his cabin. I think I will be home some time in the next three weeks, ready to meet them all. I see Mr. Canfil has been used as the leading editorial for the Wednesday Star. That is really something, when you can get a headline for the AMA leading editorial. You might also send me an endorse- ment from him, if you can get it. Sincerely yours, Harry HST/cb Harry S. Truman and Hope huscal on price seroca being dreat
