GENERAL IMPRESSION OF THE DAY.
Inci nase in cerial activity over entire sector. Increase in enemy
artillery activity in s/s TAVANUES, otherwise normal. En emy apparently alert
and semewhat nerveus during night.
II.
ENEMY FRONT LINES

III.
ENEMY ORDER OF BATTLE.

IV.
ENEMY INFANTRY,
Enemy infantry still gives evidence of nervousness, firing flares and
intermittant bursts from machine guns during night throughout sector and
particularly in vicinity opposite LANHEULLES.
V.
ENEMY ARTILLERY.
Decrease in activity except in s/s TAVANNES.
s/s BOUEE. With the exception 6f,20 shells which fell on MESNIL there
was no activity,
s/s derameE. 40 Cal. 77 en RONVAUX and vicinity.
25 Cal. 77 on CHATILLON and vicinity and some sholling in back areas,
caliber and objective net known. Sone heavy long range shelling reported from
batteries presumed to be East of ETACN, this amounting to about 50 shells of
large caliber which fell in back areas of secter. Total for Sector :
65 Cal. 77.
s/s TAVANNES. 40 Cal. 105 in vicinity just east of la BOSSE.
102 Cal. 105 and 3.6 Ca.i. 77 (one gas) on EIX and vicinity
including roads on ridge north of EIX.
100 Cal. 105, 20 of which vere gas, fell upen the high
greund in the eastern part of C.R. DAMLOUP.
12 Cal. 105 in the vicinity of dalloup.
312 Cel. 105 02 VERDUN and vicinity.
31 Cal. 105 vicinity sf Ft. TAVANNES. A f ew registration
shots were reported in the vicinity ef P.C. ESCARGOT. Total sholls en s/s:
16 Cal. 77, 609 Cal. 105 and 15 Cal. 155.
Total for entire secter: 81 Cel. 77, 609 Cal. 105, 15 Cal. 155 and 70
Caliber unknown.
Batteries from HOUTECOURT and HERLEVILLE groups active, with
activé batteries reported from peints, U-42.39, P-04,04, 0-90.14 and U-15.98.
VI.
ENEMY MOVEMENT.
Visibility good. Small groups of two or three men seen moving about
in vicinity of RE. Body of troops (number not reported) seen
moving east en road, point U-32.85 at 12:30 hr. Two men seen at burning
asreplane at point U-12. 58 about 13:19h.
VII.
EMEAY WORKS.
Working party heard by patrol driving stakes and putting up wire, point
U-23.01. Werking party seen at T-83.72. Sounds indicating construction work
heard from the vicinity of BRAQUIS.
