1127 April 25, 1949 My dear Doctor Armstrong: The President has read your letter of April nineteenth with the deepest interest. He certainly appreciates the thought which prompted you to suggest that the Greek vase recently pre- x206-misc sented to him be given to the Browning Library at Baylor University. He is not, of course, un- mindful of the honor conferred upon him by the University and he is highly pleased by your kind words, but I am afraid that your suggestion can- not be complied with as there is only one vase, 600 B.C., and that is on loan to the Smithsonian x 302 Institution for display at the National Museum for the enjoyment of the general public who daily 302-& - visit there. The President particularly requested me to extend his kindest regards and best wishes to you and his other friends at Baylor. Very sincerely yours, WILLIAM D. HASSETT x569 Secretary to the President 2107 Doctor A. J. Armstrong, x Director, Browning Library, x Baylor University, Waco, Gen ndg Texas. x PP72100
