E.O. 11652, Sec. 3(E) and 5(D) or (E) Dept. of State letter, Aug. 10, 1972 By NLT-CC NARS Date 7-25-75 US URGENT 4645, May 8, 8 p.m. FROM HODGSON Lord Finlay, representative of the United Kingdom on the War Crimes Commission called upon me in the afternoon of May 7, 1945, and said that the Foreign Office had informed him that Judge Rosenman had in- formed Mr. Eden that I had cabled the Department that Lord Wright, chairman of the commission, was consider- ing whether he would resign as chairman and as a member of the commission because he, (Lord Wright) felt that the commission was not receiving the support of the United Kingdom and United States Governments. Reference is made to Embassy's cable 4472, May 3, 1945. Lord Finlay said that this advice perturbed his govern- ment and that if Lord Wright decided to resign it might seriously affect certai : n negotiations now in progress.
