Latvia and Lithuania shortly thereafter. The Lithuanian
treath likewise included a mutual obligation not to
interfero in the internal affairs of the other contracting
party.
On January 12, 1944 PRAVDA cited Professor Lange
approvingly as stating on the radio in New York that
"Stalin wishes Poland to become an independent country.
Stalin does not have the slightest desire to interfore
with the internal affairs of the Polish nation and he will

not dictate the political, economic and social forms
of the new state"

It will be further recalled that the manifesto of
the Polish Committee of National Liberation published in
July 1944 stated that the latter was setting out "to
roestablish Polish statchood and solemnly proclaims the
rostoration of all democratic froedoms, oquality of all
citizons without distinction of raco, crood or nationality,
froodom of political and profossional organization speech
and conscionce"

Foroign Offico publicly reaffirmod its doclaration of
last April to the offoct that "the Soviot Union has no
intention of acquiring any part of Rumanian territory or
