Washington, D. C. CO SUMMARY July 22, 1945 12:13 PM MRS. CORCORAN to GRACE TULLY (former Private Secretary to late President ROOSEVELT?) at HO 4300 advising that they would be over about 12:55 as they are due at 1:00 P.M. O.K. 12:20 PM CORCORAN to LEO CROWLEY: T - Did you get thru to that "guy" this morning? L - No, but I'll tell you what I did. I was out for a walk this morning and I met JOHN SNYDER (Director of Office of War Mobilization and Reconversion) and we took a long walk together and talked that thing over quite a lot, and I told him if he didn't bring his own people with him he would be completely destroyed. T - Did you mention the specific name we wanted to get in there? (JOSEPH PANUCH as General Counsel ?) L - Yes, and a T - What was his reaction to it? L - Well, of course, he is kind of an agreeable lad, you can't always tell; but he told me he would do it, he will bring his own people with him. T - Yea, did you talk to him about "JOE"? (JOSEPH PANUCH ?) L - Yes, he likes him, he knows him. But I didn't tell or call FORRESTAL because after talking with him I was afraid that if JIMMY happened to mention my name it might look as if we were putting the brush on him, you know. T - Yeah. L - But if you get a chance you might talk to JIMMY now. T - I'll do that this afternoon. No I have been doing a lot of thinking, since I got that news about the Communist yesterday. Which was absolutely, I'm sure, true. I am now sure that all of this drive on you comes from that fellow. I'm sure that he is the guy that put Mr. "PI PRICHARD) up to it. I'm sure of it. L - I presume so. T - And he has gotten Mr. "OSCAR" (OSCAR COX, F.E.A.) in a situation where OSCAR is his prisoner, and that is where it all stems from. L - That's right, talk to me in the morning when you get back. T - All right. 3:30 PM JIMMY a doctor apparently, to Mrs. CORCORAN saying he got in today but is leaving right away. He only gets here weekends. He is taking military training and is soon going overseas. MRS. CORCORAN says she does not think he will go overseas as the Japs will surrender. He says that is possible. He says that he thinks Veterans Administration will be militarized and he does not expect to have a private practice. She says she is going down tomorrow for the swearing-in of VINSON. She says to come to dinner the next time he is here. Agreed. 3:45 PM MRS. CORCORAN asked KATE to have a drink saying that GRACE (TULLY ?) is with them. KATE says she cannot and asks that MRS. C. drop in when she takes GRACE home. O.K.
