5:20 PM CORCORAN to JOSH LEE. (Civil Aeronautics Board ?) C - I am going to see SAM (RAYBURN) again in the morning. Can you pick me up? L - Sure, but I go pretty early--about 7:30. C - I'll go with you. L - I'll be by at 7:25. Look, that other--you got the message? C - That you talked to him? L - Yeah. I'm going to bend over the barrel and give you three swift kicks at me. I forgot that, TOM. I didn't at first, and then other things came up. C - Well, the reason I had to poke you, was he poked me. L - You went in cold turkey. I was lawful sorry. C - He wasn't ready for me. I think it is important to do the whole thing tomorrow. L - Well, you fixed it un. He was in the mood and I called him, and he said he would do it. C - O.K. See you tomorrow. 5:40 PM CORCORAN to GEORGE KILLIOM. C - I made a date to ride down with JOSH LEE tomorrow at 7:25. My bones ache at the prospect. Let me know tonight if you talk to him, before I go down. K - I talked to him on the phone this afternoon. C - He knows, then, what you know. Cause I would rather not tell him myself. K - Yes, I told him I had conversed with our friend in line with what our friend TOM had in mind. C - Yes. K - And said the gentleman seemed to feel he wanted to recognize the elements of friendship and political ball playing and indicated to me he would do some back-tracking and reversing. But I am going to see JOSH tomorrow and take him to BOB (HANNEGAN ?) and discuss this other appointment. C - I think it is awfully important. K - Do you have anyone in mind? C - No, not an idea. K - I can't go for that fellow they have in mind over there. C - I tell you - it has to be a Republican, doesn't it? K - Yes. C - Why not go over to (Senator) VANDENBERG and ask him to name one. Maybe that isn't smart. K - I'd rather name one. C - I would, too. CLAUDE PEPPER will be in town tomorrow. He may have an idea. K - Good idea. Are you going to VINSON's swearing in? C - Yes, I'll see you. It's 12 o'clock? K - No, 10:30 in my office. C - SAM told me 12 o'clock, and he would have lunch with the Ways and Means Committee afterward. I'll see you wherever it is. O.K. K - O.K.
