May 10, 1947 My dear Mr. Kendall: Unfortunately your request came in so late that Mrs. Truman's calendar is completely filled with engagements for every Saturday and Sunday until she leaves for the west. She is therefore sorry that she cannot have the pleasure of arrang- ing for a picnic lunch at the White House this spring. May I suggest that you write early in the autumn to ascer- tain if it will be possible for Mrs. Truman to arrange this when she returns to Washington? Very sincerely yours, Mrs. J. M.
