P.E.O. October 12, 1951 $ My dear Mrs. Burckhalter: The reception Mrs. Truman has had for the members of the P.E.O. may have in- cluded some of the wives of the Members of the Congress but the reception was not pri- marily for them but for the group of the P.E.O. Mrs. Truman appreciates your very natural desire to make the subject of your program as interesting and cover as broad a field as possible. She is sorry, however, that for many years it has been the custom at the White House not to give out lists of guests invited to the recep- tions. Mrs. Truman sends her regrets that she can not help you in this matter in which you are so much interested. Very sincerely yours, Mrs. J. M. Helm Secretary to Mrs. Truman any Mrs. Charles A. Burckhalter P.O. Box 1092 Tampa, Florida ia
