PRESS Almost every story of any significance this morning
on the front pages is a foreign story.
1) Pakistan claims India sent two companies into East
Pakistan and had them wiped out; the Chinese have spoken out in sup-
port of Pakistan (without taking sides in the Civil War) and against
U.S., Indian and Soviet inte-rvention of any kind.
2) Baltimore Suj has a report that the Pathet Lao troops,
are deserting Communist ranks, by platoons and companies, instead of
ones and twos. Reportedly, the Pathet Lao now see themselves as being
used by the Communists.
3) Riot in Northern Ireland on Easter; nine British troops
injured.
4) Dayan has indicated that a permanet cease-fire could brin
a partial pullback of Israeli forces from Suez---so long as no Soviet
or Egyptian troops crossed
the Canal.
5) All reports indicate that the Americans arriving in Pe-
king received a warm reception, that the Chinese were courteous and
gracious all along the way. A photograph of happy Americans is being
played very widely. One expects a measure of "euphoria" to be the
result of the good publicity.
6) In Vietnam, the Times says that a major battle seems to
be shaping up over Fire Base 6, which dominates the Central Highlands
Some 5000 or 6000 ARVN troops are in the area.

Finally, Baltimroe Sun says Cardinal Cooke is setting up
a "positive alternative" program for pregnant girls, whereby Church
would provide counsel and guideance and take child and olace it at
