Latest Dem charges in Watergate affair led ABC/CBS
as Dems amended civil suit to add Stans, Sloan and
Liddy to list of defendents in "political espionage
conspiracy, 11 and also raised damages asked to $3M.
ABC called Dems daily dropping of charges a form of
political water-torture. MacGregor, on film on 2
nets, denounced new accusations as false and libelous

Richey held up expansion of suit on a technicality -

Escalating charges over US grain sale to SU were noted
on all nets. A "visibly angry'' Butz on lengthy ABC
film - also on CBS - denounced McG's charges of

official misbehavior as a "bald-faced lie", and said
that he wouldn't take sitting down charges implying that
both he and RN lied on the grain deal. All nets with
film of McG as he repeated charges, and said the small
farmer and taxpayer lost out in the affair. (Time/Newsweek
