On February 1st, I visited the Sargent & Company of
New Haven, Conn., with a letter to Mr. zeigler Sargent written
by Mr. Grannis. Mr. Sargent, I learned, is their credit man
and not at all acquainted with the use of luminous material,
so he referred me to Mr. Cherry, General Sales Manager, the man
that I saw about a year ago with an introduction from their
New York Manager. Mr. Cherry is not very enthusiastic about
the application of luminous material to their line, but finally
consented to allow me to experiment with one of their expensive
glass door knobs. It will be up to us to prove to Sargent that
there is a call for luminous key holes and keys. This will be
the biggest application in their line.
Upon the suggestion of Mr. Cherry, I went to Hartford
to see Mr. Hart of the Hart Mfg. Company, who was formerly a
partner in the firm of Hart-Hegeman - & Company.
