UNIVERSITY OF pennsylvania philadelphia GRADUATE SCHOOL OF MEDICINE OFFICE OF THE VICE DEAN FOR RADIOLOGY THE MEDICO-CHIRURGICAL COLLEGE 1321 SPRUCE STREET June 22, 1927. Dr. Frederick B. Flinn, College of Physicians & Surgeons, 437 W. 59th St. New York City. My dear Dr. Flinn: I have your letter of June 17th regarding the suit against the U. S. Radium Corporation. I do not see how I could possibly be of any value in this suit. It seems to me that the facts contained in your last paragraph, in which you found radio-active deposit in the jaw bone of this girl, is all the evidence that is needed to show that the radium was at least a factor. I would not suspect such a small amount of radium to have distant effect on the spinal column for example, but I am not in a position to say it could not occur, therefore, it would be of no value. A careful x-ray study of the spine, it would seem to me to be of definite value in determining the nature of any spinal lesions that may be present. This is only a suggestion with the thought of being helpful. Yours very sincerel P-M
