UNIVERSITY OF MISSOURI COLUMBIA DEPARTMENIT OF CHEMISTRY February 28, 1928 Mr. H. H. Barker 535 Pearl Street New York My dear Barker: We are enclosing herewith a copy of our expense account and copy of the letter which we wrote you at the same time. In my own office affairs it happens at times that we mislay letters but this sort of a slip the outside world thinks is quite a normal thing with the absent-minded professor, but I am really surprised that an efficient busi- ness man occasionally has the same experience. You know I told you that we had a very enthusiastic class in radioactivity, 13 in number. We have been trying for over a year to get some samples of the radium ore found in the Belgian Congo. The specimens offered by the Ward Natural Museum of Rochester seem rather high in price and, moreover, the uranium content of the samples is not men- tioned. In making your contract with the Belgian syndicate I hope that you have been favored with a few specimens of their ore and that you will be generous enough to send us a few mementos. We are now making a sort of an inventory of the Welsbach mesothorium which we have in process and as soon as we have this completed, we shall be in position to tell you about the quantity of mesothorium that will finally be recovered. With very kind regards, I remain Sincerely yours, Herman Schlundt P. S. We are unable to find our duplicate expense account. HS As nearly as we can remember it amounted to $37.95. We c will try to locate it and when we do will send you the b itemized account.
