Gentlemen:
The above case after argument on Tuesday,
March 8th was set specially for trial for Monday, June 13,
1932. I am to receive definite word on Monday, March 14th
as to whether our offer in settlement of $3000. is to be
accepted. If it is not we shall then have to prepare for
trial for June 13th.
Mrs. Hoare's condition, according to her
physician is serious. I had a chance to talk to her and to
see her physical appearance. She has the typical appearance
of the girls who in the past have appeared as radium victims.
She is thin, emaciated, nervous, her lips quiver and her hands
shake. She talks in a stuttering sort of way and seems to
have no physical energy. She can only stand up for a few
moments at a time and then has to sit down. I was observing
her when she did not know I was doing so, while she was in
the corridor on two different occasions when I was in the
Court House on this matter. I give this observat: ion as a
mere layman's view. Of course, her condition may be due to
S omething o ther than radium.
Yours very truly,
EAM: AG
