September llth, 1933. Dr. Jas. Ewing, %liemorial Hospital, New York City. Dear Dr. Bwing: Ne have your letter of September 8th en- closing bills from Dr. Bumphries and the Homeopathic Hospital of Essex County. lie certainly feel that Dr. Humphries should cooperate with us in obtaining either a better rate or a less expensive roon for Miss Fryer at the Homeopathic "ospital in case she will be con- fined there much longer. From Dr. Bumphries bill dated September lst, the question arises in our mind as to whether Dr. limphries is not using us "for a good thing". We observe that on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday of each week during the month of August Dr. Eumphries called on Miss Fryer, but on the other four days of the week, he did not. Thile we do not wish to question the necessity of Dr. Humphries' Ber- vices - still it does seem odd to us that his services should be required each of three successive days - and the same days of each week - and the other four days, she is able to get along without his services. lie know that you agree with us that Dr. Humphries' bills are somewhat of a problem, and probably before we are through, we will have to have a better under- standing with hin relative to the necessity of his services and the fees which he is to charge par visit. Sincerely yours, HHBarker:DK Vice-President
