CO SUMMARY Washington, D. C. July 13, 1945 4:20pm CORCORAN to Mr. (ALFRED T.) HOBSON of RFC to say he is trying to get cleaned up so that he may go on a vacation. TOM stated that on May 7, 1945, he received a letter from a fellow named HOOKER (Phon.) from Nashville, Tennessee regarding a man named ARTHUR PENDLETON of Lebanon, Tennessee, requesting TOM to do what he could to get PENDLETON transferred from the RFC in Wash- ington to the RFC in Nashville, Tennessee. TOM said HOOKER'S letter stated PENDLETON has some friends who will talk to Mr. (JOHN, Federal Loan Administrator) SNYDER and asked TOM to talk to SNYDER or someone else in RFC about PENDLETON. CORCORAN told HOBSON that HOOKER is a friend of JUSTICE DOUGLAS. He asked HOBSON to find out where PENDLETON is now, since the letter is two months old, and if he has been transferred "I'll be glad to take the credit for it. 4:25pm CORCORAN to Mr. EMIL SCHRAM (President of New York Stock Exchange) who may be visiting at RFC. CORCORAN spoke with Mrs. SCHRAM, CORCORAN said he was in New York between his 26th and 32nd years. She is from New York. CORCORAN asked her to have her husband call him when her husband comes in. O.K. 4:50pm YOUNGMAN to CORCORAN, substantially as follows: Y--Tom, how'd you make out? C--Gettin' better. I think WORTH got a long way this afternoon. Caught the other fellows flat and the thing's been sent back to them with the fellow he talked to on his side with practically an order to show cause. I think we've got a break. We're waiting to hear again from CLINTON (ANDERSON, Secretary of Agriculture). Y--You expect probably by Tuesday. How about the things with WEDGE (Phon.)? C--We'll know something tomorrow. Y--About the matter of my brother-in-law C--SHAGGY (QUINN SHAUGHNESSY) found out about this other business and I've a date with Miss MURPHY over at (ADMIRAL) Mc INTYRE's office to clear it. It's all in the doctor's hands. Y--That's swell. The boy's been living with his in-laws. It's kinda hard. Next thing do you know ALFRED JONES in the RFC? C--No, but I'll get to know him. Y--Here's the story. Kinda funny. The Chinese are buying 25 million dollars worth of textiles to ship to China and when T. V. was here SOONG & DAY (Phon.) were handling it for him. It was supposed to be purchased through the Chinese Supply Commission and they were supposed to arrange for the shipping and everything. As soon as they got out of the country, I mean SOONG & DAY, this KUNG (Phon.) guy over
