The town is seen across the Fal, with a big street following the line of the shore, and terrace after terrace of houses on the hill behind. Towards the left is the parish church of King Charles the Martyr. On the near shore are some low houses and sheds, and a horse stands on the right near a hedge. The subject has been drawn on the slant, and lines have been ruled around It to correct this defect and indicate where the plate is to be cut.

Farm near Wakefield

The farm buildings occupy rather more than half the width of the plate ; to the left are bushes and a rick. Hens and chickens peck on the road, and a waggon, covered with a tarpaulin, is drawn up near the house. Two men, standing by the wall, remain unfinished.

First study for the Ballantrae Road

In the distance a line of hills rises from the sea and increases gradually in elevation towards the right. A coast road, starting from the foot of the hills, skirts a little bay and climbs a steep slope to the front. Near the top, on the left, stand two cottages. In front of the farther one is a woman stooping ; a man and a woman stand conversing across a cart in the middle of the road. The nearest cottage has two chimney-pots, with a slight indication of a third. The line of hills ends on the right 48 mm from the bottom of the plate.

Fisher's Creek, King's Lynn

In the foreground are the same boats and cart as in Dodgson number 141, but we see much more of the boats. A man lies in the cart, another sits on the shaft, and a third stands leaning against the end. In the space between the cart and the boat on the right are four men and a dog. The distant shore is more distinct than in the etching ; there are several small rowing boats on the water ; the buildings of the town are more defined and to the right of the church we see some long warehouses, a tall chimney, and the masts and rigging of two or three ships. There is a reverse of this composition of this print (Dodgson number 155.)

The same composition as in Dodgson number 142, but repeated in reverse, so that the town of King's Lynn is seen on the left. An anchor is seen in the foreground towards the left. The dog and the line alike are burnished out ; the burnisher has left conspicuous traces in the sky.

Between the road and pavement, towards the left, are two trees, one behind the other. Near them is the sign of an Inn. Beneath this sign are two carts, standing deep in water which has overflowed the road. A sailing barge lies athwart the road, and the mast of a second barge rises beyond a ledge which separates the flooded Mall tail from the Thames. The subject, without a borderline, occupies the upper portion of this space. The trunks of the two trees are unfinished and end abruptly 1/2 in. beneath the top of the plate.

Beneath this sign are two carts, standing deep in water which has overflowed the road. A sailing barge lies athwart the road, and the mast of a second barge rises beyond a ledge which separates the flooded Mall tail from the Thames. There le an irregular gap in the foliage on the left side of the tree, extending from about 26 to 35 mm. from the left side of the plate; also a smaller gap, the centre of which is 5 mm. below the top of the plate and 22 mm. from the left side.

Foster's Boathouse, Cambridge

In front is the Cam ; on the farther bank are trees to the left and then a long, low building inscribed Foster University Boat House, with adjacent buildings and then more trees. A bit of the near bank is seen on the extreme right. On the left, in the shadow of the large tree, are two rowing boats in the water. The light part of the tree is much worked over and filled up, so as to present an appearance more uniform with that of the lower branches.
