The people of Virginia strongly urge you, President, impress Congress with the necessity for immediate action on the proposed wheat measure for relief of unemployment distress throughout the country believing that no legislation is more important than feeding destitute families. The apparent delay through Congressional red tape needs your strong personal appeal to insure speedy enactment of food relief legislation at once to relieve the increasing number of destitute families so that the consequent attending evils distress and lawlessness may be avoided and the confidence of the people restored in our social economic and governmental structure. We believe that with appropriate legislation and simple administration a suf- ficient part of the-surplus wheat can be speedily converted into foodstuff for immediate and subsequent relief during the coming winter. We believe a message from you is all that is needed to insure prompt congressional action and in behalf of our people I again urge your immediate personal attention.
