Weather: Scattered to broken cloudiness based at 1,500 to 3,000 feet with frequent showers and thunderstorms. Visibility unrestricted except in showers and early morning haze. Forecast: Generally unchanged. 2. Soviet Participation: Negative. 3. Enemy Situation: a. There are indications of enemy reorganization and build-up in the Chinju area. Enemy activity consists mainly of probing actions. A pilot reports an undetermined number of enemy vehicles moving east from Uiryong. An estimated enemy company reentered Kosong. Enemy strength in the 25th U.S. Infantry Division rear areas is estimated at 1,300. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. A mid-day attack by an estimated enemy company against the 34th U.S. RCT 5 miles southwest of Yongsan was repulsed. Heavy enemy fire of all types was received by Task Force Hill. The enemy in unknown strength is reported regrouping for an attack on the front of the 19th U.S. RCT. An undetermined number of enemy troops attacked the friendly forces in the Yongsan bridgehead at dawn with heavy fighting reported. (FECOM) (SECRET) C. Enemy strength in the bridgehead 6 miles southeast of Tuksong is estimated to be regimental size from the 10th North Korean Division. The enemy is preparing positions in this area with additional troops of unknown strength reported 5 miles to the least. (FECOM) (SECRET) d. The enemy continues to exert heavy pressure along the 1st ROK Division front. An estimated enemy regiment holds a position about 1 mile northeast of Waegwan.
