1. Situation in Brief:
The situation along the Eighth Army front continued quiet, with
the exception of the Tokchon area where an estimated 2 enemy battalions
supported by 4 to 6 tanks resisted ROK efforts to expand their positions.
Friendly air destroyed the tanks, but observed few other worthwhile tar-
gets on the immediate front, The 7th U.S. Marine Regiment, effectively
supported by air and artillery, made gains in the Sudong area, while
other U.S. units in the U.S. X Corps zone reported light contact. PHILIP-
PINE SEA, VALLEY FORGE, and LEYTE operating off Hongwon launched
strikes against enemy installations along the northern perimeter in addition
to the Yalu River Bridge strikes reported on 9 November. BADOENG
STRAIT and SICILY provided close air support for the 7th U.S. Infantry
Division in the vicinity of Pungsan. Naval air flew 308 sorties on 9 Nov-
ember, and U.N. aircraft under FEAF control flew 629 sorties, including

2. Weather:
Broken to overcast low and middle clouds over south and east
Korea. Visibility 7 miles, lowering to 3 to 5 miles in light rain. Scattered
low clouds and broken middle clouds over north and west Korea, with visi-
bility 8 miles lowering to 1 to 3 miles in early morning haze. Forecast:
Overcast low and middle clouds over south and central Korea, with visi-
bility 3 to 5 miles in rain, lowering to 1 mile along the coast. North Korea
scattered low, middle, and high clouds becoming broken by 1200/11 (KT),
with visibility 7 miles lowering to 1 to 3 miles in haze and fog during the
morning, and in scattered snow showers in mountains during afternoon.

3. Chinese Communist Participation:
a. A total of 48 Chinese PW's have been captured in the Eighth
Army zone of responsibility. On 9 November, the 5th ROK Regiment cap-
tured 4 Chinese PW's identified as being from the 335th Regiment, 112th
Division, of the 38th CCF Army. Three other PW's who claimed to be
