1. Situation in Brief:
The U.S. Eighth Army continued to withdraw southward toward the
general line: Nonsan-Wolbang-Sang-Sunghwa-Maehwasan-Chupyong. On
the west flank, the 5th U.S. Infantry RCT maintained blocking positions

it is to revert to Army reserve. In the 25th U.S. Infantry Division sector,

made several limited attacks during the day, but pressure leased at night
fall. The 7th U.S. Cavalry RCT, holding a blocking position, was under
attack in the vicinity of Kujong at 0130/30 (KT). In the U.S. X Corps area
reports indicate an enemy buildup in the Koto-Changjin-Yudam area, with
4 to 5 CCF Divisions now employed. The 5th and 7th U.S. Marine Regiments
remained heavily engaged with the enemy in the Yudam=Changjin area. As
of 1120/30 (KT), the 5th U.S. Marine Regiment, located 1 mile northwest
of Yudam, had been under continuous attack by an estimated enemy regi-

tol ROK Division. Elements of the Capitol ROK Division are engaged with
an estimated enemy battalion in the vicinity of Yonjin. Elements of the

weather on both coasts held Naval air operations to a minimum. A total
of 181 sorties were flown on 29 November, and U.N. aircraft under FEAF
control flew 563 sorties, including 368 combat. FEAF Bomber Command
