1. Weather:

Binto
Weather for the period consisted of a cold front moving southeast
across Korea spreading broken to overcast high, middle and low clouds
over all Korea. Visibility 3-5 miles in haze, except 1 mile occasionally
in local areas. Battle area temperatures ranged between 30 and 45 de-
grees F. Forecast for 10 March: Gradual clearing, with clear or only
scattered low and middle clouds over all Korea. Visibility 7-10 miles.
Battle area temperatures will be between 30 and 35 degrees F. (FEAF)

2. Enemy Situation:
The enemy continues to resist stubbornly in the IX and X Corps
sectors. Units ranging up to estimated regimental strength were com-
mitted in an effort to halt the Eighth Army offensive. Considerable
enemy activity was observed north of 6th ROK Division positions. Enemy
casualties for 8 March: 4, 126 killed. Total enemy killed during past 2
days: 10,561. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
GROUND
a. General: The Eighth Army offensive continues with gains
up to 2 miles reported. IX and X Corps carry the weight of the attack.

b. I U.S. Corps: The 1st ROK Division sector was quiet.
Enemy activity in the 3d U.S. Infantry Division sector consisted of patrol
clashes and harassing fire. The Division adjusted positions as the Philip-
pine Battalion moved into the line relieving 3d Battalion, 7th U.S. Infantry
Regiment. The 25th U.S. Infantry Division made limited gains against
moderate resistance. (FECOM) (SECRET)
C. IX U.S. Corps: 24th U.S. Infantry Division: 19th U.S. In-
fantry Regiment advanced 2 miles to positions 5 miles north-northwest of
Yangpyong. A strong enemy counterattack caused a slight withdrawal in
the center of the Regimental sector. 21st U.S. Infantry Regiment ad-
vanced less than 8 mile against light opposition. The 19th ROK Regiment
(attached) engaged an estimated enemy regiment 6 miles north of Chip-
yong. ist Cavalry Division units advanced to positions 9 miles northeast
