1. Weather:
Generally middle to high broken clouds over all Korea with
patches of low clouds in the south. Visibility 8 to 10 miles lowering 3
to 5 miles in haze and rain. Temperatures 32 to 63 degrees F. Fore-
cast: Broken middle to high clouds with broken low clouds in extreme
south. Visibility 10 miles lowering to 3-5 miles in haze. Temperatures
48 to 66 degrees F. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Enemy resistance to Eighth Army advance continues heavy
in vicinity of eastern end of Hwachon Reservoir, Elsewhere, enemy
opposition was light to moderate. The enemy established a smoke screen
along the Army front from the Uijongbu-Chorwon highway to the vicinity
of Pupyong by burning vegetation and other inflammables. Friendly air
observation and close support were restricted by this smoke screen.
A total of 1753 enemy vehicles were sighted in enemy rear areas, of
which 991 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
GROUND
a. General: Eighth Army continues limited objective offensive.
Slight advances were made in Beat and IX Corps zones; remainder of Army
continues to maintain positions. (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. I US Corps: The 1st ROK Division maintained positions
south of Imjin River throughout the period, patrolling West and northwest
across the river with minor contact. On 14 April, friendly guerrilla forces
occupied the town of Kaesong, 10 miles northwest of Munsan, without con-
