1. Weather:
Weather seriously hampered operations during 15 November. Fol-
lowing the passing of a cold front, most of Korea was covered by scattered
low and middle clouds. The southern part of Korea was overcast with a
2,000 foot ceiling and restricted visibility. Temperatures: 42 to 55 de-
grees. Forecast: 28 to 55 degrees. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
Hostile activity continued light, with the strongest action consisting of
an enemy battalion-strength attack against 3d ROK Division positions north-
west of Sohwa early on the morning of 16 November, forcing slight friendly
withdrawals. Two smaller probing attacks were repulsed in the east-central
sector. The adjusted total of vehicle sightings for 14-15 November is 160,
of which 106 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
a. General: UN forces continued to engage numerous small enemy
groups in patrol clashes across the front. 1st US Cavalry Division artillery
fired on several enemy groups and destroyed a tank northwest of Yonchon.
Elements of the 2d ROK Division relieved the Colombian Battalion in position
south of Kumsong. (FECOM) (SECRET)
b. I US Corps: Activity was very light across the Corps front, as 1st
ROK Division patrols engaged squad- and platoon-size groups 10 miles north
of Munsan, and 1st US Cavalry Division artillery fired on an enemy company,
a tank, and several small groups northwest of Yonchon. (FECOM) (SECRET)
C. IX US Corps: A tank-infantry patrol from the 25th US Infantry Divi-
sion engaged a hostile squad and a group of undetermined size three miles
north of Kumhwa. Patrols from the 2d ROK, 24th US, and 6th ROK Divisions
engaged groups from squad size to 100 enemy in number in the vicinity of
Kumsong and southwest and southeast of the town. (FECOM) (SECRET)
