1. Weather:
Cold front located in the Seoul area. Front preceded by multilayer
clouds with bases at 1,000 feet and tops about 20, 000 feet. Visibility I'e-
stricted 1-3 miles in fog. Weather operational to marginal in all target
areas, but nonoperational from a number of bases. Maximum temperature
40 degrees, minimum 35 degrees. Forecast: Rapidly moving cold front
expected to move through Korea. Snow and rain preceding frontal passage
becoming clear after passage. (FEAF) (SECRET)
2. Enemy Situation:
An enemy counterattack, estimated at two-company strength, forced
a raiding patrol from the 1st British Commonwealth Division to withdraw
west of Yonchon on 25 January. Elsewhere, smaller enemy groups contin-
ued to probe UN positions. Mines damaged two 24th US Division tanks east
of Kumsong on 25 January. Mortar and artillery fire continued moderately
heavy in the central and east-central sectors, between Kumhwa and Komi-
song. The 37th CCF Service Army (minus) is now carried as unlocated.
The adjusted total of vehicle sightings for 24-27 January is 3, 401, of which
2, 476 were southbound. (FECOM) (SECRET)
3. United Nations Situation:
ARMY:
a. General: UN forces continued to engage groups of up to
company size in daily patrol clashes and repulsed several light enemy prob-
ing attacks. UN artillery fired on numerous enemy artillery positions.
Task force BYORUM was discontinued effective 261200 (KT). (FECOM)

b. I US Corps: An enemy platoon probed 1st ROK Division
positions seven miles northeast of Panmunjom and was repulsed at 272030
(KT). Division patrols continued to engage scattered small groups in the
sector. Two hundred twenty-two rounds of mortar and artillery fire fell on
