Weather: Weather was operational in all target areas of North Korea yesterday. Forecast: Scattered low clouds along the west coast. Visibility unrestricted. Maximum battle area temperature 25 degrees, minimum 0 degrees. (FEAF) (SECRET) 2. Enemy Situation: An enemy company attacked a 3d US Division OP northwest of Yonchon and forced it to withdraw. This was the only enemy probing attack of the period. An unidentified aircraft dropped flares and strafed 40th US Division positions at five points in the area four to nine miles southeast of Kumsong on the night of 4 February; no casualties or damage reported. The adjusted total of vehicle sightings for 3/4 February is 1, 682, of which 967 were south- bound. (FECOM) (SECRET) 3. United Nations Situation: ARMY: a. General: UN forces northwest of Yonchon reoccuppied posi- tions from which they had previously withdrawn under attack by an enemy company. Elsewhere, UN patrols continued to engage scattered small groups across the front. (FECOM) (SECRET) b. I US Corps: Patrols from the 1st ROK and 1st British Commonwealth Divisions engaged small enemy groups seven to eleven miles northeast of Panmunjom. An enemy company attacked a 3d US Division OP eight miles northwest of Yonchon at 041710 (KT); the friendly elements with- drew and counterattacked unsuccessfully at 041930 (KT). Division elements reoccupied the positions on the morning of 5 February. One hundred sixty- six rounds of enemy mortar and artillery fire fell in the Division sector. Patrols from the 45th US and the 9th ROK Divisions engaged small enemy groups eight miles northwest of Chorwon. (FECOM) (SECRET)
