Of Charge 1,
: Guilty.
Sentence.
To be di ishonorably discharged the service, to forfeit all pay and
allowances due or to become due, and to be confined at hard labor
at such place as the reviewing authori ty may direct, for two (2)
years.
Action.
In the foregoing case of Louis D. Gibson, Private, Company G, 137 th
infantry, the sentence of the court is considered inadequate. The
accused was stationed in an advanced position, where his inattention
to his duties might endanger the lives of many of his comrades and
his first and foremost duty was to exercise the utmost vigilance,
and any failure so to do was deserving of severe punishment. The
reviewing authority under the circumstances cannot adopt the recommend
ation for clemency made by members of the court who tried the accused.
Because of such recommendation the case is not returned for a re-
vision of the sentence, The sentence is approved and will be duly
executed. The Military Prison Camp, ST. SULPICE, France, A.P.O. 705,
is designated as the place of confinement whore the prisoner wi 11 be
sent under guard.
